What is Memory Manager 3.0?
Memory Manager is an easy-to-use software program that helps you organise, categorise, personalise, and edit your photos like a professional, without having to be one. The software is a one-of-a-kind tool specially created for the album-maker or photo enthusiast.
Memory Manager Software is available to purchase in two ways, either by ordering a CD or as a download.
Why should I upgrade?
Memory Manager 3.0 has increased functionality and more powerful editing tools than ever before. Memory Manager has always brought you features especially designed for scrapbookers:
• The unique Memory Vault that saves all of your photos in one place, rather than scattered around your computer
• The automatic backup function that ensures you always have a backup copy of all your precious photos
• Memory Manager never overwrites your original photos – instead originals are kept and all revisions are saved separately
• Memory Manager gives you up to 5,000 characters for journalLing
• The PrintTrack feature keeps track of which photos you’ve printed and which still need to be printed
• Once your photos are organized and edited, we make it easy to create an album, whether you want to scrapbook traditionally, create a PicFolio™ Album, or create a StoryBook photo book
Here are the newest features in Memory Manager 3.0:
• More compatibility with StoryBook Creator. Now you can add photos to a new or existing StoryBook.
• Change just a part of your photo with the new Selection ribbon. For instance, you could select one part of your photo to stay in coloUr and easily make the rest of the photo black and white.
• Journaling boxes in albums now offer rich text editing so you can have multiple fonts, styles, sizes, colors, etc. in one journaling box.
• New and improved cloning. With Memory Manager 2.0 you could copy (or “clone”) one part of a photo over another part of the same photo to get rid of unwanted items; with Memory Manager 3.0 you can now clone a portion of one photo onto another.
• Duplicate image detection. When you’re importing photos, the program alerts you if one or more of your photos appear to already be in your Media Library.
• Delete a photo from the edit page. Now you can delete an unwanted photo from the Media Library without having to leave editing – just delete and move to the next photo.
• When you share photos with other Memory Manager users, they will see the folder(s) the photos were in, your Star Rating and your journaling.
• Ability to determine how you want to view your photos. View from old to new, new to old, alphabetical, etc.
• New users can import photos and keep the current file structure. If a user has photos in organiSed folders on their computer, these folders will appear in Memory Manager when the photos are imported.
• If you’ve created more than one Memory Vault, you can merge them later.
• New Microsoft Ribbon Technology that matches the latest Microsoft software making it even more user friendly.

What information do I need to upgrade?
You will need:
• The serial number from MM 2.0 or MM 1.0 (in case the software doesn’t automatically find it)
• Your new serial number from the MM 3.0 upgrade (from the packaging of your CD or on the e-mail confirmation from your download purchase)
• Your current Memory Vault file location (while in Memory Manager 2.0, click on Memory Vault/Manage Memory Vault and write down the location/file path of your current vault and its name)
• It’s always a good idea to also make sure you have a current backup of your Memory Vault

• The software should automatically detect your vault once you’ve installed MM 3.0 and opened it. If it doesn’t, open MM 3.0 and click on Open a Vault>More Vaults on My Computer and browse to the location of your vault to open it.
• Note: Once you’ve opened your Memory Vault in version 3.0 it will automatically be upgraded and you will no longer be able to access it with Memory Manager 2.0.

Just enter your version 1.0 serial number when prompted. NOTE: Do not install 1.0 on Vista and then upgrade - version 1.0 is not compatible with Vista.
How long will you support 2.0?
Creative Memories will support Memory Manager 2.0 through 12/31/2010

How do I install Memory Manager?
In most cases, the Memory Manager set-up program will run when you insert the Memory Manager CD into your CD drive. If this does not happen, or if you have purchased the software as a download, you will have to run the setup program manually.
The set-up program is called AUTORUN.EXE. To run this program manually, perform the following steps:
1. Locate the Autorun.Exe file either on your CD or in the file you downloaded.
2. Double-click on this file to run the setup program.
Where do I find the serial number for Memory Manager?
If you purchased your software on CD, the serial number is printed on the back side of the Memory Manager package, in the lower left hand corner. If you purchased your software as a download, the serial number can be found in your order confirmation email. You must enter the serial number exactly as shown. Once you have installed Memory Manager, you can find your serial number in the About box of the software, accessible from the Help menu.
What is activation and why do I have to activate the Memory Manager Software?
Activation is an anti-piracy technology used to verify that the software has been legitimately licensed. The activation process is simple and unobtrusive, and does not violate the user's privacy.
Each copy of Memory Manager can be activated on only a single machine. If you need to move Memory Manager to a different computer after it has been activated, you will have to call the Memory Manager support line and have a customer service representative help you with this process.
What information does Memory Manager send to the activation server?
The installation ID number contains a checksum based on information about the particular computer and operating system. It does not contain any personal or identifying information about the user or the user's computer.
How do I get the most recent updates for the Memory Manager Software?
By default, Memory Manager checks periodically for updates to the software. If an update is available, you will see a message on the bottom of the Welcome Page. To check for updates manually, click on Check for updates now. If an update is available, the software will provide a button that will takes you to an online download website.
What versions of Windows does Memory Manager support?
Memory Manager will run with Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista (all editions).
Does Memory Manager run on an Apple computer?
There is not presently a version of Memory Manager for the Mac operating system. Although it is not an officially supported platform, some customers have been successful in running Memory Manager on a newer Mac with an Intel processor, Windows emulation software such as Parallels, and the Windows Operating System.
How much memory (RAM) do I need to run Memory Manager?
Memory Manager requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM if you’re running Windows XP, or 1 GB if you’re running Vista.
How much disk space do I need to run Memory Manager?
Memory Manager and all of its required components requires 1 GB of free disk space. However, to store a large number of images in the Memory Vault, more disk space will be required. The exact amount of space depends on the number and size of the images you wish to store.
What’s the difference between sort boxes, folders, and albums?
Your folders contain images, and all folders are stored in a sort box. The combination of sort boxes and folders is provided to allow you to organise all of the images in your Memory Vault.
Albums provide a means of selecting and arranging images from the Memory Vault, along with journaling boxes, in preparation for printing and use in a physical album. In addition, albums provide an easy way to share your stories using a digital slideshow.
How often should I back up my Memory Vault?
You may backup your Memory Vault as often as you wish. The actual frequency is up to you, the user, and depends on how much risk you are willing to take in terms of losing images. Memory Manager can be configured to periodically remind you to backup your Memory Vault. We suggest you use the Shadow Copy backup, which will automatically backup your images every time you close the software.
What is metadata?
The term metadata literally means “data about data”. Your photos are considered “data”, so metadata about your photos is simply information that further describes your photos. This can include the image resolution, camera make/model, shutter speed used, etc. Now when you add a photo to a folder, give it a star rating, or change the date or time it was taken, Memory Manager 3.0 automatically saves this information to the metadata attached to your photo.
Can I have this on more than one computer, or is there a multi-user license?
This software has a single license and can only be installed on one computer at a time.
Will my shadow copy function after I upgrade, or will I have to create a new one?
You will need to set up a new Shadow Copy once you upgrade.
Can I still use Memory Manager 2.0 on one of my other computers, and for how long?
Once you purchase and install the Memory Manager 3.0 Upgrade you have upgraded the license you purchased for Memory Manager 2.0 and you will not be able to reinstall version 2.0 on any other computer using your MM 2.0 serial number.
Can I install Memory Manager 3.0 over the 2.0 version or do I have to uninstall 2.0 first?
You do not need to uninstall the 2.0 version before installing 3.0. However, once you have opened your Memory Vault in 3.0 the software will automatically upgrade the vault and you will no longer be able to access it from the 2.0 version.
Can I have Memory Manager 2.0 and 3.0 on the same computer?
Yes you may, but once you have opened your Memory Vault in the 3.0, the software will automatically upgrade the vault and you will no longer be able to access it from the 2.0 version.
Is Memory Manager 3.0 compatible with Windows 7?
Yes, it is compatible with Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista (all editions) or Windows 7.
Does Memory Manager 3.0 support emailing with a web-based provider?
Yes, as long as the web-based provider allows access by Memory Manager. The best way to email through most web-based email providers is to use the Print at web provider function, which provides the user with the export options (e.g. resizing), then puts the images in a temp folder, allowing the user to browse to the temp folder from the web-provider. The bottom line here is that the restriction is not with MM, but with the architecture of web-based email providers.
Will Memory Manager back up to a network drive/folder?
Yes – when you set up your backup just let the software know where you want the backup to be stored.
When I upgrade from an old version of Memory Manager to Memory Manager 3.0, will my photos transfer over?
When you upgrade from Memory Manager 2.0 to 3.0, your memory vault remains safe! You’ll just need to open your vault once you install and launch Memory Manager 3.0.
Will I be able to open my Memory Vault (created in MM 2.0) in Memory Manager 3.0?
Yes! However, once you open your MM 2.0-created Memory Vault in MM 3.0, you will no longer be able to access it with MM 2.0. The software will display a message box when you try to open the old vault, indicating that this is the case.
